There still seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel for the walk out by rail staff across the country. Over twelve thousand rail staff are taking part in four day strike which is expected to last until midnight on Monday 18 August.
The strike action is taking place over the unresolved issue of pay and conditions being fought by the Rail Maritime and Transport Union (RMT).
The walkout by workers is the third this year but the first time strike action will effect weekdays including Friday and Monday of the working week. Previous strike action walkouts were restricted to the weekends only and little if any disruption was reported on passenger services.
Network Rail have been accused by the RMT of ignoring requests to resume discussions to resolve the ongoing dispute.
