The major overhaul of Chorley railway is currently running behind schedule but chiefs say the work will be completed by the September 7th deadline.

Chorley Railway line has been closed since July like many other major projects being undertaken across the UK during the summer break period. Although the work is currently behind the predicted schedule rail bosses are confident that work will be completed in time for the September as expected.

Passengers have been using an alternative bus system since the rail line closed and are reported to be keen to see the line re-opening as soon as possible.

Over 3 dozen employees working round the clock are working on the Chorley project and it is reported that all the old rail lines have now been removed ready for the installation of new lines capable of running the future high speeds train services.

One of the major factor effecting work on the Chorley project has been the consideration to carefully remove 16 historic and listed stone arches. Each of theses arches had to be removed carefully in order for them to be taken away for renovation work before they are returned and re-instated only in a higher position than before.
