Virgin Warn Passengers to Brace Themselves for Delays

As Network Rail continues with construction work for its massive 2008 project Virgin Train are warning passengers to be prepared of a particular fortnight of disruption.
The end of August and first week in September are expected to be particularly bad weeks in the Midlands area when no trains will be running between London and Birmingham on the West Coast Main Line.
Rail travellers are being urged to double check travel plans and timetables before they set out.
The disruptions come just weeks after a controversial mix up between Network Rail and Virgin Trains over timetables which cost many Virgin travellers heavily after saver fares were not able to be offered.
Network Rail is driving to achieve its year end deadline for nationwide improvements and development work despite Virgin Trains well publicised appeal for the deadline to be extended to avoid passenger disruptions.
2008 has been one of the most productive years for rail improvement and new development work. The £8b programme of improvements are essential for future rail travel in the UK but there has to be a cost to passenger services in order for works to be completed.
