5 Scottish railway stations are to receive a proportion of a £39m 'Access for All' fund provided to ensure disabled passengers get the best possible access facilities to trains and railway stations across Scotland.
Managed by the Department of Transport the funds will be allocated to the following railway stations after a detailed review by Network Rail:-
- Hyland Station
- Easterhouse Station
- Linlithgow Station
- Montrose Station
- Perth Station
Launched in 2006 the All Access Scheme has benefited thousands of facilities across the UK, Scotland itself has already benefited from previous contributions.
It is hoped the current multi-million funding exercise will see installations such as news lifts, lighting and improved floorings to accommodate the requirements of the disabled.
