2008 has been a year of frustration for many but a year that was always going to be racked with engineering and development work as Network Rail undertake one of the most ambitious upgrade projects in history. With a deadline of the New Year still the intention of Network Rail, work continues with a prospect of more work days now being involved in the development timetable.

Network Rail have commented that once this year is out the way the benefits of the improved rail system will be immense. With a massive increase in faster and more efficient services being provided through the upgraded lines, business will be able to reap the benefits - This year was always going to be tough year because of the need to develop the rail system and it is of course an unfortunate situation that an economic slump has also been effected in 2008.
