Stoke-on-Trent railway station has the backing of Network Rail for more car parking facilities as the current volume of spaces has been deemed inadequate.
The railway station currently provides two car parks with enough parking for up to just over two hundred cars, although some are specially allocated for staff at the station.
Space at the station has already been allocated to accommodate a new 300 space car park with disabled functionality for the use by rail passengers. There now needs to be agreement by the City Council to move the plans forward.
The increase in car parking facilities is yet another indication of a pro-active movement of commuters to utilise the public rail service which is set to be the possible future preferred choice of many people.
