In a bid help reduce rail commuter delays the Office of Rail Regulation has laid down a series of targets that it hopes Network Rail can achieve to help boost passenger services and rail confidence.
The targets come at a time when rail services are doing extremely well despite the massive upheaval of development work that has been undertaken by Network Rail in 2008.
The Rail watchdog has praised this years records but wants to ensure these services are preserved and improved upon.
It is reported that the ORR has set the following targets:-
- A Reduction in Cancellations by 17 per cent within the next three yrs
- A further reduction on the above to 37 per cent within 5 yrs
Everybody is keen to see the British rail system continue to improve and the delivery of passenger services become the best available. The targets set by the ORR are a good benchmark and many agree a measure to keep the rail operator set keep standards high.
