Calls for Consistent Fares

We are reading more and more articles from commuters across the country calling for more proportionality in the way fares are being prepared and published for UK rail commuters.

The Rail Alliance newsroom has previously reported the massive differences between advance and on the day fares and the subject is still a major topic for the UK rail commuter and one we suspect is going to continue, particularly in the current credit crunch economic environment.

On the day rail fares can often be up to 5 times more expensive than the same booked in advance and by advance we are not talking weeks or months but days and in some examples only hours.

There is a very real demand from the British public for an effective and efficient public transport both in the short and long term and rail travel is at the forefront of this expectation. The current rail fare systems however are being challenged as being unrealistic and in many cases disproportionate and unaffordable.

I order for rail passenger services to take their place as the ultimate public transport service the British public want affordable and consistent fares. Is this really to much to ask!
